Clean Heat Program

WK Mechanical, Inc. is proud to be a participant in the NYS Clean Heat Program. This is a program for residents and business owners in the state of New York to save money on their utility bills. WK Mechanical, Inc. is proud to be a participating contractor in this program. Here’s what you need to know about how it works, what system qualifies, how you can benefit and what you should do if you want to participate in this money-saving program.

About the NYS Clean Heat Program

The goal of the NYS Clean Heat Program is to set up the state of New York for a low-carbon future. The state aims to meet the lower carbon missions guidelines of the Paris Climate Accord, and this program is one method of reaching that goal. Burning natural gas, propane, or heating oil adds a lot of carbon to the atmosphere. Operating old, inefficient heat pumps also contributes to high carbon emissions. Replacing an old, inefficient heating system or water heater with a new, high-efficiency heat pump that meets rigorous environmental standards will benefit the environment. It will also lower the utility bills of residents and business owners who participate in the program.

Qualifying Products for the NYS Clean Heat Program

There are many qualifying air-source and ground-source heat pumps and heat pump water heaters for the NYS Clean Heat Program. The participating products include residential and commercial systems.

How You Can Get a Tax Rebate From Participating in the NYS Clean Heat Program

The United States Internal Revenue Service has extended tax credits for energy-efficient heating systems through the end of 2021. The air-source and ground-source heat pumps and heat pump water heaters that qualify for the NYS Clean Heat Program also qualify for these tax credits. You’ll need to claim the line item credit on your 2021 tax returns. The tax credit will reduce the amount you may owe the IRS, or it may increase your income tax refund.

Incentives for Air-source Heat Pumps

WK Mechanical, Inc. offers incentives to make installing this new heat pump technology more affordable. Our incentives include rebates based on the British thermal unit (BTU) capacity of the heat pump or heat pump water heater you choose. The incentive is $1,600 per 10,000 BTU. If your home is 1,600 square feet in size, and you select a heat pump with 40,000 BTU, your incentive will be $6,400. If you have a newer, larger home measuring 2,500 square feet in size and choose a 65,000 BTU heat pump, your incentive will be $10,000. If you just need a partial system, such as for a home addition, we offer an incentive of $800 per condenser.

Incentives for Ground-Source Heat Pumps

Ground-source heat pumps, also called geothermal heating systems, are more energy-efficient than air-source heat pumps. The available incentive for ground-source heat pumps is $2,000 per 10,000 BTU of heat pump capacity. If your home requires 40,000 BTU, your incentive will be $8,000.

How to Get Your Rebate

To get your incentive, choose a contractor who is certified with the NYS. WK Mechanical, Inc. is proud to be a participating contractor. Next, ask our technician or office team at WK Mechanical, Inc. to complete the online rebate application on your behalf. The rebates take five to seven weeks to process. You’ll receive a check in the snail mail.
