COVID-19 requires all of us to take precautions to stay safe and healthy. Because we are spending more time in our homes, heating is even more important this year. During the pandemic, you may need installation, repair, and maintenance services for your heating systems. At the same time, the pandemic means that we need to be more aware of who is allowed into our homes. At WK Mechanical, Inc., we have implemented COVID-19 practices to help residents feel at ease with having one of our expert technicians perform necessary HVAC services in homes across the Hudson Valley. Here are the 10 important practices that we follow.

1. Virtual Meetings and Online Chat

We are using technologies that allow Hudson Valley residents access to our experts without needing to come to our location in person. Our website includes a chat feature for your questions. If you need more personalized service and in-depth information, you can set up a virtual meeting with one of our experts. This is ideal if you are looking for a new heating system or if you want to discuss upgrades to your current HVAC equipment. Using virtual meetings minimizes the amount of time that you need to be in our office because we can walk you through our HVAC products. These meetings also reduce the time that our technician is in your home because we can perform some basic troubleshooting.

2. Daily Cleaning of Our Offices and Facilities

Because we do have employees and customers coming into our office and facility, daily deep cleaning is important to reduce the potential for COVID-19 to spread. We use products that are known to destroy bacteria and viruses, including COVID-19. All surfaces are cleaned during the process.

3. Unwell Employees Stay Home

If any of our employees feel sick or have symptoms of COVID-19, they are allowed and encouraged to stay home. We extend them the time that they need to take care of themselves with no risk of losing their jobs. In some cases, we may need to reschedule your in-home appointment should one of our technicians stay home, but we value your health and well-being above all. We will schedule a new appointment as soon as possible.

4. Hand Sanitizer in Our Office

Our office and facilities are stocked with hand sanitizer. Employees and customers are encouraged to use the hand sanitizer when they enter our business, as they touch surfaces and before they leave our business. All hand sanitizers meet the requirements for preventing the spread of COVID-19.

5. We Follow CDC Recommendations

The CDC has outlined recommendations for businesses to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and our employees follow these recommendations. We meet regularly to discuss CDC recommendations as they evolve, and we modify our practices as needed. We routinely perform evaluations of our practices and make changes as needed to protect our customers, employees, and community.

6. Social Distancing

We practice social distancing by maintaining at least 6 feet of space between people at our office, at our facility, and at customers’ homes. When we are working in smaller spaces, we follow practices that minimize potential exposure to the COVID-19 virus.

7. Gloves, Booties, and Face Masks

Our employees wear gloves, face masks, and booties while performing HVAC services in homes and businesses. We require all customers to wear face masks, as well. If any customer refuses to wear a mask, we will reschedule the appointment.

8. Hand Washing

In addition to face masks and social distancing, hand washing is another important practice to minimize the spread of COVID-19 in our community. Our technicians wash their hands after leaving each job site and before entering a new job site. Hand washing is combined with using hand sanitizer while on the job.

9. Flexible Scheduling

If you or any member of your household is feeling unwell or experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 in the days before your appointment or the day that our technician is scheduled, please contact our office to reschedule the appointment. Once you are feeling better, call us, and we will schedule the appointment as quickly as possible. If you need emergency HVAC services when you are not well or having symptoms of COVID-19, please call us to learn about ways that we can help. Many HVAC repair services involve equipment outside your home.

10. Special Arrangements for Customers

If you have any concerns about our COVID-19 practices or HVAC services during the pandemic, contact us for more information. We remain flexible at this time to ensure that Hudson Valley residents receive the HVAC services they need in a timely manner.
